Updated: Jan 3

Can-Am Ryker vs Can Am Spyder

3-wheel motorcycles in the Philippines have recently seen a boost in demand in the industry, especially from those who are seeking autos that offer a less traditional and more thrilling ride. These 3-wheelers make for a very sleek and cool-looking vehicle, but they are also known for delivering a safe, stable and comfortable riding experience.

BRP Manila’s Can-Am is one of the most prominent brands of 3-wheel motorcycles globally. Can-Am’s On-Road motorcycles offer cutting-edge performance coupled with a modern design to guarantee a one-of-a-kind escapade. The brand offers a wide range of 3-wheel models, including the Ryker and the Spyder. While the Can-Am Spyder caters to riders who are into extreme riding, the Can-Am Ryker is a stripped down model intended for those wanting a more laid-back ride.

Comparing the Ryker and the Spyder

Can-Am’s Ryker and Spyer are built differently in terms of design and features. Below, we list the key differences between these two Can-Am big bike models, as follows:

Facts and Features

The Can-Am Ryker delivers a perfect balance of comfort and style with its robust engine. It is also equipped with rally tires, reinforced rims, front grille protection and a skid plate. For maximum protection, the Ryker offers premium handguards, elevated suspensions and a rally set. It comes with a Max Mount structure that allows for additional accessories and cargo compartment, and Rally Mode for thrill drifting.

One of the game-changing features of Can-Am Spyder is the BPR Connect, which gives vehicle access to smartphone apps and enables riders’ phones to connect to music, apps and the Can-Am Spyder community. It also consists of riding aids such as a UFit System with adjustable foot pegs and handlebars and a stability system with anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control for a smooth and trouble-free ride. Aside from high-powered engine features, the Spyder provides Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS) for increased protection against theft or unauthorized users.

Engine Displacement

The Can-Am Ryker operates a two-cylinder 600cc Rotax ACE engine with 82 horsepower to deliver better gas mileage and reliability. It can upgrade the vehicle’s performance from 600 options for starters to 900 options for adrenaline junkies.

Meanwhile, the Can-Am Spyder has a 1300cc Rotax ACE engine with 105 horsepower. Its three-cylinder design offers optimized torque, exceptional acceleration and great gas mileage with around 252 miles per tank.

Design and Style

In terms of motorcycle style, the Can-Am Ryker offers riders the ability to customize their 3-wheelers by changing up panels in various colors or removing accessories, including hoods, windshields and lights, depending on your style preferences. For the Can-Am Spyder, its style resembles snowmobiles with heavy frames and a sporty riding position.

Riding Experience

The Can-Am Ryker has a twist-and-go transmission that is fuel-efficient and does not require gear shifting. It also has an elevated center-of-gravity and power-to-weight ratio to achieve an effortless ride.

On the other hand, the Can-Am Spyder has a 6-speed transmission and an electronically-controlled power steering system with automatic-mode handling that ensures a secure and satisfying ride. I agree the big difference is the price. I have a older spyder but can't afford the new spyder price. I am going for a ryker next

They are still pretty quick with the 900 3 cylinder. Rick Western Australia.

This is a bad comparison. You need to compare the same exact features. You don’t even mention the gas mileage of the ryker smh
